Justin Roebuck

Ottawa County Clerk/Register of Deeds

Justin has served Ottawa County residents for the past decade as Clerk and Register of Deeds, and during that time, he has focused on leading in the areas of customer service, technology and the security of our public records and elections.

The County Clerk and Register of Deeds is responsible for the administration of all elections within Ottawa County, recording and preserving all records related to real property such as mortgage and deed documents, maintaining all records of the 20th Circuit Court, as well as all vital records such as birth, marriage, death and business registration records.

Justin began serving Ottawa County in 2009 as the Elections Coordinator for the Clerk’s Office. He was appointed County Clerk and Register of Deeds in 2014 and elected to the position in 2016. Previous to this role he served on the staff of Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, and Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05).

Serving as Clerk/Register, Justin’s passion is creating an environment for above-and-beyond customer service. The mission statement of the Clerk/Register’s Office is: “To help our customers and encourage their trust in government.” Justin and his team recognize that trust is earned, through honesty, transparent behavior, and through solving problems for our customers.

Justin also believes that staying engaged and offering real solutions to the challenges we face is a critical part of serving county residents well. He is actively involved in advocating at the state and national level for policy and law changes that make our elections more secure, our court records more efficient and our land records process more streamlined.

He currently serves on the Michigan Council of Election Officials, the Legislative Committee of the Michigan County Clerks’ Association and the Michigan Association of Registers of Deeds. Justin was appointed in 2021 to the Michigan Judicial Council, which is the body responsible for setting the strategic plan for Michigan Courts. He has served on the Michigan Secretary of State’s Election Modernization Advisory Committee and serves nationwide as a member of the Standards Board for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.

Justin lives in downtown Zeeland with his wife Laura and two children. The Roebuck Family are members of Engedi Church in Holland.
